Education and Experience
Ms. Mayo was born in Manila, Philippines, and raised in the United States since the age of 1 ½ years. She is an alumna of San Diego State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a specialization in Radio/Television Broadcasting in 1995. During her studies, she interned at local television stations KFMB News 8 and KGTV 10 News, working alongside Investigative Reporter Marti Emerald, who later became a San Diego City Council Member. However, upon completing her university education, she felt a different calling and enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a Legal Specialist within the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG).
Ms. Mayo is a decorated soldier recognized for her exemplary service in military legal work, earning commendations from top-ranked officials for her contributions as a translator in a Military Court Martial. Her time in the military solidified her passion for the legal field, and with strong recommendations from her JAG officers, she pursued and obtained a Paralegal Certification from the University of San Diego. Additionally, she holds an Intellectual Property Law Certification from the University of California, San Diego. Since then, she has gained comprehensive experience in various areas of law, making her a versatile and highly skilled legal professional.

Additional Information
Outside of her paralegal work, Ms. Mayo is a dedicated Duathlete/Triathlete, distance runner, and cyclist who regularly competes in endurance races throughout San Diego. She is also an active community member, serving on the Board of Directors and Creative Team for the Samahan Philippine Cultural and Arts Company, where she helps promote Filipino culture through dance and art. A passionate advocate for animal welfare, she participates in charitable races supporting animal adoptions and adores her two golden retriever fur babies.
