Ian William McKinley is a Senior Associate at Hoffman & Forde. He represents Clients throughout Southern California. Ian’s practice areas are diverse, but include Eminent Domain, Inverse Condemnation, Business Torts, Boundary Disputes, Shareholder & Member Derivative Litigation, Land Use, and California Right to Privacy and Equal Protection Claims. Ian is an enthusiastic supporter of the rights protected by both the United States and California Constitutions, and zealously advocates on behalf of his clients against government overreach. In 2018, Ian was part of the team that successfully represented the College Area Students Tenants and Landlords Association against the City of San Diego in their quest to invalidate City of San Diego Ordinances O-19704 and O-20789.
Education and Experience
Ian graduated with a degree in History (Bachelor of Arts) from Cornell University in 2005 where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, and returned to the hill to earn his Masters in Business Administration from the Johnson School at Cornell University in 2009. Ian received a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2014. Prior to becoming a licensed California attorney, Ian clerked for Freeland, McKinley & McKinley, and the California Attorney General’s Office (Elder Abuse Division).
